THE FOOD

The menu focuses on authentic Puerto Rican cooking instead of the usual Nuevo Latino blend found in the city. Carne frita--addictively chewy crispy pork chunks--benefit from a drizzle of lime instead of the accompanying; tostones arrive crisp and complemented with garlic sauce; and the long-stewed flavor of garlic and peppers save the slightly oversalted shredded beef of the ropa vieja. Desserts evoke the island best--with white cheese empanadas drizzled with guava sauce, and a cheese flan as dense as El Yunque rainforest.

We do not take reservations on Thursday, Friday & Saturday for parties under 8 people. Parties of 8 or more people will have the Personalized Party Menu. On Sundays parties of 8 or more will also have the Personalized Party Menu.

I-95 South to Exit 16(North Avenue, Cedar Street exit).  Stay to your left around the traffic circle.  Turn Left at the stop sign to remain in the traffic circle.  Go through the yield sign; Don Coqui is just ahead on your right next to the Storage unit.
From NYC & Points South:
I-95 North to Exit 16.  Make a Left at the traffic light at the end of the exit ramp.  Bear left into the traffic circle at the bottom of the hill.  Go through the yield sign; Don Coqui is just ahead on your right next to the Storage unit.
From Iona College &  Points West:
Take North Avenue East towards New Rochelle.  Approximately four lights after the police station turn Left onto Garden Street. Bear left into the traffic circle at the bottom of the hill.  Go through the yield sign; Don Coqui is just ahead on your right next to the Storage unit.
From Downtown New Rochelle & Points East:
From Main Street in New Rochelle, take North Avenue West towards the train station. Just after the train station make a Right onto Garden Street.  Bear left into the traffic circle at the bottom of the hill.  Go through the yield sign; Don Coqui is just ahead on your right next to the Storage unit.
From the Hutch Northbound:
Take Exit 12 (Pelham, Mt.Vernon, Lincoln Ave).  Make a Left off the exit and turn Right onto Lincoln Avenue.  Take Lincoln Ave to North Ave and turn Right.  Follow the directions from Points West.
From the Hutch Southbound:
Take Exit 12 (Pelham, Mt.Vernon, Lincoln Ave).  Make a Right off the exit and turn Right onto Lincoln Avenue.  Take Lincoln Ave to North Ave and turn Right.  Follow the directions from Points West.

Take North Avenue East toward New Rochelle. Approximately 4 lights after the police station turn left onto Garden Street.
